The Flu stinks...

So I caught it...the dreaded flu. We saw my parents on Sunday for the Selection show and Dad was complaining that he didn't feel well. So I tried to stay away from him. Monday Mom emailed me and said Dad had the flu. Great!

Tuesday afternoon I was feeling puky but I thought it was just a pregnancy thing but my mid-afternoon I had the chills. I came home and went to bed; I woke up the next morning feel icky so I stayed home from school. I felt better during the day but after lunch I took a turn for the worse. So again here I am today on the couch with chills, a fever, cough, and chest congestion. I went to the doctor today to see what I could take but I don't feel like it is helping. Please pray that I would heal quickly so we can go to Boone to celebrate Easter with the Coxes.

Thanks!

I've been tagged...

Two posts in one day...Aren't you impressed?

Erin, one of my roommates from college, tagged me and now I have to tell 10 things about myself. I think I've done something similar to this on one of my Thursday Thirteens but I'll try to come up with something new.

1) Currently I am repulsed by coffee. What used to be my favorite drink is now causing me to be nauseous, which makes me really sad. Silly baby!

2) My biggest struggle right now is the boys in my classroom. Many of them are disrespectful to me and their peers. They call each other names, are in each other's business, have anger issues, etc. They also don't respect authority so when I say something they don't think they have to do it. It drives me insane! I have run out of strategies for them and just feel so frustrated.

3) My biggest fear right now is that something will happen to my unborn child before he/she is born.

4) My current food obsession is french fries, which really aren't good for me, but they don't seem to make me sick feeling.

5) I have an obsession for Sharpies. I love them in any color or size. Jeremy has given me Sharpies every year in my stocking.

6) I hate scary movies... I will not watch something that could be remotely scary. It gives me horrible dreams. Speaking of dreams, I have the weirdest dreams. I dreamly very vividly every night and many times they involve friends and family in weird places. My husband thinks I'm weird.

7) I love the color green. For Christmas, I got all kinds of green apparrel and accessories. My favorite is my lime green purse.

8) One day I would like to write a children's book and have it published. Right now I'm having trouble coming up with an original story.

9) I desperately wish I could sing on key.

10) I wish I journaled more. I love reading my old journals and seeing how the Lord has worked in my life. Lately I haven't been disciplined enough to do it. In college, I typed my journal and made it a secret file on my computer. Maybe I should go back to that again.

Wow, that was hard! Trying to come up with original things about myself was hard. Sorry Erin, if it wasn't exciting as you wanted.

I tag....

Cheri and Lindsey and Jaime....because I know they'll do it. :)

Stefanie...because she doesn't blog enough about herself. :)

ACC Day

Yesterday was the first official day of the tournament. But today was the first day I really cared about. Because Carolina typically plays the noon game every year, I have had to come up with a way to watch the game at school. Easy...incorporate it into your lesson plans and you can watch it.
This morning, I divided my kids into 5 of the ACC teams and they made banners to cheer on their team. Afterwards, they did all ACC basketball word problems which we used for our math basketball game. Here at lunch, we are watching the Heels play FSU while we eat. This afternoon we'll write basketball poetry. The kids are really into it yet they talk too much for my liking during the game. I would show you how cute they are but for security purposes, I better not show them.
Let's hope that UNC can pull out the victories this weekend and secure their #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Have a great weekend! GO HEELS!

I'm a guinea pig..

Yesterday the Wake Forest Pregnancy center needed volunteers for the ultrasound training. They just received the machine and wanted to train their staff so they needed pregnant women. Being that I am one (and I will also enjoy seeing pictures of my baby). I signed up.

It was really fun to be part of their learning experience because they talked through everything in such great detail and time and I felt like I really got to know a lot more information about my body and the baby.T

he pictures are so amazing! The baby was kicking and moving its arms, looking like it was having fun putting on a show. The nurses were super sweet and kept telling me how great the baby looked and how it was right on schedule.

Jeremy and my mom were able to come so that made it even more special.Below are the newest pictures, its amazing how much the baby has developed since the last pictures just 3 weeks ago. God is amazing, isn't He?!

Weekend of Fun

Does anyone else think that the weekends are entirely too busy? I mean aren't weekends for relaxing?

Saturday I work up early to attend a baby shower for my neighbor, Mrs. Kari Akin. Little baby Micah will here in 6 short weeks so we showered her with gifts. Following that, I went to a bridal shower for Betsy, one of my teammates. I was impressed with my knowledge of Betsy and Brian's relationship as our team won the game and therefore winning myself a new spatula. :)

When I got home, Jeremy and I went to work cleaning the house from top to bottom so that it would be clean for small group on Sunday night. We grilled out last night and got ready for the big game! Be impressed, Jeremy and I were able to watch the game (UNC vs. DUKE for those who don't know) side by side and be nice to one another despite our affliations. I did however cheer loudly for my team during the game and after our VICTORY! We will remain #1 as well as became ACC champions! What a great night!

Today was church, lunch, and more things to mark of the to-do list. Jeremy has a job interview on Tuesday with an advertising agency so he wanted to take his online portfolio and make a paper copy so he was busy doing that. Please pray for him on Tuesday. :)

Also our building just grew by one! Our neighbors Tim and Anna gave birth to their first son, Judah on Saturday afternoon. We are very excited for them!

This weekend of fun in combination with the time change has made me exhausted. Maybe this week will not be as busy and I can catch up. But we know how that goes...

Please pray

Please pray for the Carson family whose daughter Eve was murdered last night. She was the current student body president at Carolina and loved by many. At this time, they do not have any suspects. The whole situation is very tragic and the entire campus is hurting.

New look

So I guess you've noticed I've made some changes in the blog. If you know me at all, you know I love change and I'm constantly wanting to rearrange stuff, cut my hair, etc. The blog is no different.

Last week I was reading blogs as normal and randomly linked to a sibling of a friend of ours who had a cute background. She had posted that she had her blog "pimped" by this lady so I followed the link and found out that this woman designs blogs for a living. She is a digital scrapbooker (I no clue people did this so I read up on it). I found some cute paper online and with my husband's awesome photoshop skills we created the header above. After that I just coordinated the colors. It's still not as awesome as this professional woman's but hey it's my first attempt. Thanks for all the compliments on it. Sadly it is not a template that you can find anywhere. Sorry ladies!

Speaking of changes, my emotional state is constantly changing....meaning I'm an emotional basket case. Today at school something very minute sent me into an hour sobbing fest. Full out crying, red faced and red eyed so bad that my principal would not let me go back upstairs to my class. Now in my defense, school is really stressful right now. I have my hands in a lot of pots and many of them are keeping me busy and stressed. Top that off with my crazy kids and you have a mess. You know it's bad when your principal gives you permission to take mental health days.. maybe I should take her up on them.

On Jeremy's job front, he met with a guy today and has made a couple of connections. We know the Lord is going to provide a job, we are just trying to be patient. Selfishly I'm praying that the job would have a substancial enough income that I would be able to stay home. I REALLY want to stay home with our child and I really am burnt out in the classroom. Can you tell by the tears today?
