30 weeks

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant! Only 10 more to go...can you believe it? Last night Jeremy I watched the National Geographic documentary In the Womb.


The documentary uses high tech cameras, along with 3D and 4D ultrasounds, to show the fetus during its 9th month journey. The details and footage they showed were amazing! After watching it, I don't know how anyone could deny the existence of God or have an abortion. So many minute details occur even in the first few moments of conception, that no one other than God could have orchestrated. It is truly amazing! From the moment of conception the cells are a living being with unique DNA.

Overall the documentary was incredible and I would recommend it to all new parents. The documentary made me even more excited to see Owen. I can't wait to meet him...well we can wait a little longer...he needs a little more time to mature. :)

KidsExchange and 29 weeks

My sweet neighbor Anna introduced me to a whole new world today...the world of consignment. Twice a year there is this HUGE consignment sale here in Raleigh at the state fair grounds. Because Anna put some things in the sale, we were able to go today before it opens to the general public. I had no clue what to expect but man were my eyes open quickly.

It started at 9 so we got there at 9...big mistake. It took us over 30 mins. just to get in the door! We realized soon that we were definitely newbies because we were the only ones who didn't have a basket, wagon, or rolling vehicle. Once we got in I was overwhelmed. The room was HUGE and had more baby stuff than I had ever seen in my life. We both had one big item that we were looking for so we quickly went to that section. I got a great deal on a swing....I saved over $90! Anna got an exerisaucer and saved over $70.

We then moved around to the toys, clothes, and books. We finally decided we had all we could carry so we looked for the line. It was wrapped all the way around the building and through these long cattle gates. It took us over an hour just to check out! It was so crazy but I think next year I'll be better prepared. At this time, we have not had any showers or another kid, so I don't know exactly what we still need. I got some clothes, bibs, and hats, but we'll wait on the other stuff. I forgot to mention that we had our 29 week appointment yesterday. Owen is measuring right on schedule yet his mommy gained a little more weight than she should. Whoops! The doctor also explained the diet and I realized that I was making it worse than it was. It is basically a low-carb diet where I have just have to be sure to eat less carbs at each meal. Luckily they didn't take away fruits, but there is no more french fries and ice cream. Sad! Thanks for all your advice! We go back to the doctor every 2 weeks now! We've made it to the third trimester!

The results are in..

The nurse called a few minutes ago with my glucose test results. She said that 1 out of my 4 blood tests from last Friday came back with high sugar readings. This means that I don't have gestional diabetes (2 out of 4 would signal diabetes) but I should go on a sugar-free diet. I have my 29 week appointment on Wednesday so I will receive information on what I can and cannot eat then. I did, however, google sugar-free diets and I think this could be very difficult. Did you know how many things we eat have sugar in them? Of course, we all know the obvious like sweets, but it is in fruits, tomatoes, white breads and pastas....all things that I love.

Any of you out there cutting back on sugars? Have any great suggestions or receipes?

Post #250 brings good news...

For my 250th post, I thought I would post some exciting news. JEREMY GOT A JOB! Friday Jeremy was offered a job to be the website production coordinator and photographer for Nash Community College. NCC is in my hometown of Rocky Mount, NC. This job is right up Jeremy's ally as it is doing the same kind of work he was doing for Southeastern. He really feels like he suits this job well and it will be really fun for him.


So let me go ahead and answer all the questions I know you're going to ask:


a) When does he start? 2 weeks from today.

b) What will he be doing? He will be maintaining their website, promoting the school through different graphic design mediums, and taking pictures of school events.


c) Are you moving to RM? Not sure. The plan as of right now is to stay in Wake Forest until Owen is born. This would allow me to continue to work, earn some money, and keep my insurance and doctors.


d) Are you going to work once Owen is here? We are currently praying about what will happen once he arrives. The desire of my heart is to stay home with Owen so we have to see how we can make that happen. We have a couple of options: 1) We can move to RM, which would save money on property taxes, gas, etc. I still would have to find some kind of side job to help make ends meet. Maybe babysitting, tutoring, or some other stay at home job. If we move to RM, it would not be until after Owen is born so sometime late Oct./early Nov. 2) We could stay in WF and I could try and find some job that I could work at from home like mentioned before. Will you go before the Lord for us and ask Him to give us direction and wisdom in making this decision?

e) Will you have to move out of seminary housing? We are hoping not. Most of the time the seminary gives graduates a semester before they kick them out. We may have to pay a higher rent but it will be worth it to stay put.

f) How do you feel about moving back to RM? I was never one who wanted to move back to my hometown. While I enjoyed growing up in RM, I never really wanted to go back. There are many advantages and disadvantages to moving back to RM. If we move there, we have my parents close by which would be great for me as a first time mom. Also Owen would know his grandparents really well and we would have a free babysitter when we needed one. :) Also if we lived in RM, Jeremy's commute would be short and we would save on gas. In addition, we would probably be able to get a bigger house for the money as well as have less taxes. The disadvantages would be that we would have leave our wonderful church and friends. I have been going to the Summit since I was in college, so about 5 years now. It is an amazing church with a huge heart for the community and the nations. The teaching is solid and I am afraid we won't find the same thing in RM. We also have made some incredible friends here and it would be hard to leave them.

We really do feel like this is where the Lord is leading us. We praise God for His provision and how He has worked everything in His timing. There are still many decisions to be made and we are continuing to rely on the Lord for answers. Pray that He would give us direction as well as a peace no matter where He places us.

4 holes in my arm

In case you wanted to know, I now have 4 little holes in the creves (sp?) of my left arm. What are they from you ask? They are needle holes from my lovely 3 hour glucose test that I had done this morning.

You know when you are not supposed to have something you want it more? That is how I was about food. I have had to fast since dinner last night so wouldn't you know that I was hungry at like 11 pm last night. All I could think about was wanting some breakfast. :) I survived though and made it to the doctors this morning by 8. They drew my blood then I had to drink this drink that was like Kool-aid on crack...straight sugar. For the next hour, I sat in the waiting room feeling a little woozy. I was so afraid I would get sick and have to start all over. PTL, I did fine and made it through three more blood tests. At 11:15 I was finally free and able to eat a big ole' lunch at Panera. I will not get the results until Monday morning, thanks to my doctor's office taking a half day on Fridays. Please pray that the results will be negative and I will not be diabetic. Happy Friday!

Our Mountain Weekend

This weekend we went to Asheville to celebrate Colleen and Evan's wedding. Colleen worked with Jeremy and I at camp and we have remained friends ever since.

Before the wedding I got to visit with my college roommate, Bekah. Bekah is the proud new mommy of Taylor Thomas Hendricks. Isn't he a cutie!!??

Since it was my first time visiting Taylor, I had to bring him a fun gift. I made this burp cloths and my friend Lindsey monogrammed them for me. Bekah was so excited about them! She couldn't stop ravving about them.

Sunday we decided to conclude our mountain visit with our favorite mountain town, Boone. Yeah they aren't really close to each other but we wanted to see the Coxes. We got to spend some time with our favorite niece and celebrate her mom's birthday. She is getting so big and is developing such a personality. Love her!

Anniversary Recap

As I said yesterday, my husband is awesome. He was super thoughtful yesterday and showered me with love and surprises. From the moment I woke up, there were little notes everywhere.. in my Bible, on my computer, in my phone, etc. My phone, which includes my planner, had two new events in it. It said I had to be ready for lunch at 12 and then I had a surprise appointment at 3:30 and gave the address. Of course, I googled the address, but I'll get to that in a minute.

Jeremy came to get me for lunch with a box in hand. What was inside??

The final season of the Gilmore Girls!! My collection is now complete! Seriously, I have a random obsession for this show and had already finished the first 6 seasons earlier in the summer. I was so excited to get the last season. I've already watched 2 episodes.

We then went to lunch...Moe's and the Naked Swirl (frozen yogurt), both are my favorite fast food places.

3:30 rolls around and I go to the address I was told and it was the Iatria Spa!

Jeremy had reserved a one hour pregnancy massage for me and it was amazing! So relaxing!

When I returned home, we went to dinner downtown at 518 West.

It was super yummy! Then we came home and watched our wedding video. :) It was a fun day and a great way to remember the last 4 years! Today we're off to the Asheville area for another wedding...this time for our dear friend Colleen. Have a great weekend!

4 years strong!

To my amazing husband, can you believe we have been husband and wife for 4 years? It has been an amazing (and fast) 4 years. It's hard to believe but I love you more today then I did then. You have proven to be a man of faith, strength, wisdom, and determination. You have shown me unfailing support and love through it all. I can laugh, cry, and be silly with you unlike anyone else. I feel blessed to call you MY husband. As we begin to start the next phase of our family, I can't wait to see you with Owen. I know you are going to be an amazing dad! Happy Anniversary!!

What's new with the Coxes?

Today was haircut day, which is always a fun day for me. I love getting haircut and getting a new style. While I didn't intend to get it cut this short, I'm satisfied with the results.


A couple of weeks back I showed you this bag and told you that we had ordered it to use as a diaper bag. We thought it would be a more gender neutral bag that both Jeremy and I could both carry. Well once it arrived, I wasn't as impressed with it. It's a great bag, but not what I wanted in a diaper bag. So I returned it to REI. Last week, I began to search for new bags after looking around the nursery at church. I did some investigations and found this brand I really liked but they were more than I wanted to spend. That's where Ebay came in. I got this bag for HALF of the price of the original and it still has the tags on it! It came in the mail today and I'm super happy!

In that same post, I told you about our stroller system being recalled so we picked out another one. Well last week we found out that the problem had been fixed and they are now back on the market! I'm excited because I liked our original stroller better. You can see it below. Some other new things...Jeremy has a job interview on Monday for a graphic design position back in my hometown. I'm excited for him but honestly not excited about it's location. I'm not thrilled about moving back to RM if he gets the job. I have enjoyed living in the Triangle since I left for college. I love all it has to offer, esp. our church and the stuf to do! If this is where the Lord is calling us, then I will go willingly. My desire is to serve and glorify Him.

Many of you have asked about his interview that he had a few weeks ago. It has been 2 weeks since the interview and he called to follow-up on Monday and they said they had one more week of interviewing and would possibly make a decision next week. Please continue to pray for this situation. Summer seems to flying by and the weeks until school and the baby come are coming closer. I'm scared that the time will come when I have to start a new grade level and pack up and move all while being pregnant. Please pray for us!

26 weeks

Many of you who don't live near us have asked for an updated belly shot. So for your viewing pleasure, my little baby bump.

Speaking of my little baby bump, we believe we finally have picked a name. As of right now, his name will be OWEN BRINSON COX. Brinson is my paternal grandmother's maiden name. Thank you all for your votes.

Yesterday we updated our registry now that we have gotten the bedding. We're registered at Babies R Us and Target if you're interested.

And just for fun...today while we were outside our cute little neighbor came over. Isn't she precious?

I'm going to miss them when we move and/or they move. We have to move at the same time so that neither one of us has to be here alone, right Alyson? :)

4th of July Celebrations

Thursday night my family came to Wake Forest to have dinner, play games, and watch fireworks. Everyone brought a steak and I fixed some yummy summer sides. We had a great time hanging out and playing cornhole. (Sadly I didn't remember to take pictures until it was dark. Please forgive the bad pictures. ) Luckily we live right near the high school so we didn't even have to leave our yard to see the show.

Friday we all went over to Jen and Mark's country club and swam, had dinner, and enjoyed another fireworks show. It got cut short due to a massive thunderstorm. Overall it was a great 4th--time with family and good food! Happy Birthday America!

I failed...

Yesterday was my 26 week appointment with the ob. Part of the visit included my glucose test for gestional diabetes. For this test, you have to go in with an empty stomach and drink this 50% sugar drink and they test your blood an hour later. They draw 3 tubes of blood and send it out to the lab and they said they would call me with the results. After my test, I met with the doctor and she said everything looks great!

The nurse called me this morning and said that I did not pass. Evidentally your sugar level should be 140 on this test and I was slightly above at 146. :( Therefore, I have to go back in 2 weeks and take a 3 hour test. This time I will have to go in after fasting for 12 hours and they will test my blood. Then I have to drink a 100% sugar drink and they will test my blood every hour for 3 hours. What makes it worse is that you have to sit in the doctor's office for the whole 3 hours! I'm hoping that because I was on slightly above the limit that this test will reveal that I don't in fact have diabetes.

Needless to say, I am less than thrilled. Please pray that the next round goes well and I will in fact not have diabetes. I really don't need another stress factor right now with everything we have going on right now.
