We're back...

Yay! Our computer is finally fixed and I was able to download our pictures we had taken over the last month. There are many posts below so keep on scrolling. We're heading to Boone this weekend to see Jeremy's family so I'm sure we'll have some fun pictures when we return. Have a great weekend.

Diaper Wipe Clutches

Now that Owen is napping on a more regular schedule it has freed me up to do crafts again. Crafts now though need to be functional. Since my days revolve around wiping Owen's little tushy, what better craft than a cute little wipe case.

This craft was super easy and made really quick. I think it may be a new staple for baby showers to come. :)

Playa

The first weekend in February my long time friend Corey Brown and his wife Lindsey came over for lunch. The Browns have a little girl name Riley that is about 2 months older than Owen. It seems that Owen is quite the little playa these days. If you look closely in the pic, you'll notice that Owen has his arm around here.

Owen: "Hey baby! I like your bow."
Riley: "Um, who are you?"

Riley moves in for the kill: "Hey you know, you're pretty cute," all while putting her hand on his leg.

Natalie better watch out. It looks like he is two timing on the side.

All that macking made him tired. Later that afternoon (after having a major blowout and needing a new outfit) he zonked out on the Boppy.

The Entertainer

Owen loves to stand though he can't do it by himself yet. Because of this, we decided it was time for the exersaucer. The kid loves this thing; it entertains him for 20 mins or more. It is great when I need to wash dishes, fold clothes, or just go to the bathroom. :)

Jeremy thinks Owen likes sushi and always laughs as Owen attacks the fish with a vengeance. Many times he will squeal when he thinks the fish should come off into his mouth.

(He actually has 2 more now that jump thanks to his cousins Haley and Hunter. One lives at my parents house so he can play there and the other one is still a little big for him and it shaped like a car. We can't for him to be able to use it! Thanks guys!)

Our Vday in Photos

In a previous post, I told you about our lovely Valentine's Day but I thought I would recap again now that I have pictures.

Here is my amazing husband making homemade crab cakes. Isn't he cute in his apron?

Little notes like these were taped all over the house and I had to follow them to my final destination.

My final destination. A beautiful candlit dinner. Afterwards we had chocolate covered strawberries and coffee by the fire along with a sappy movie. It was awesome!

Owen's 1st Valentine's Day

It was warm here on V-day so we decided to go outside and play in the yard. Owen's shirt isn't really Vday but if he could say anything..he probably would have said it. He loves to be hug, held, and kissed.

He also loves to stand!

Feeding

We started cereal around Owen's 4 month mark. We give him about 2 teaspoons every night and he is getting quite good at it. (The first feeding video will appear soon...I have to figure out how to edit if first.)

We started out feeding him in the Bumbo but he began to lean too much. We brought out the high chair, which allowed us to strap him in. This works much better! Doesn't he look like such a big boy!

Miss me?

Have you stopped checking my blog regularly because there is nothing on? I apologize. We are still without our computer and the computer that we were borrowing has stopped working too! What is our deal with computers these days? So now I have to come over to my parents to check email. Sadly I can't download any pictures either because Jeremy has our camera formatted in such a way that my parents' computer won't read it!

To keep you updated on us..

Owen is doing well. His nighttime sleep has started to get back on track and he is sleeping 8 hours before needing a feeding. I feed him around 4 then he goes back to sleep until 8. His daily schedule is consistent now which makes for easy planning. He is enjoying cereal and eats about 2 tsp at night.

Jeremy and I are doing well. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day thanks to my parents who babysat. Jeremy cooked me crab cakes (which are my favorite) and we had a candlelight dinner on our china! We also had chocolate covered cherries and coffee by the fireplace! Then he watched a girlie movie with me. I have an amazing husband!

We also finished our taxes and got a HUGE refund thanks to be first time homebuyers. We have already received our return and have paid off our car. We were also able to pay some other bills and we are now DEBT-FREE (ex for our house)!! It feels amazing!

I'm also playing around with the idea of doing some work outside of the home. There is a possibility of tutoring some middle schoolers and then maybe another thing that I'll tell you about later.

I've also been working out for 3 weeks straight now. First it was walking on the treadmill at my parents then last week I walked outside everyday in the gorgeous weather. It's back to the treadmill this week bc of the cold. If I could stop eating chocolate, I may actually lose some weight. Ok that's it for now.

4 months old

Owen turned 4 months on the 28th. We went to the doctor this Tuesday for his 4 month checkup and shots. He was a whopping 16 lbs. and 1 oz. (75th %) and 28 in (off the chart!). Evidently we have a very tall boy! Where does that come from? They also increased his reflux medicine and gave him some cream for his eczema. The doctor also gave him the go ahead to start cereal. We have since tried it but you'll have to wait to see it until we get our computer back before I can download the video.

At 4 months, he can do the following:

• Make a variety of sounds
• Laugh out loud
• Smile in recognition of us
• Grab objects and study them
• Sit up in his Bumbo
  
• Roll from his front to back (he did it 3x in one day but as yet to do it again)
• Bear weight on his legs (he loves to stand)
  

He likes:

• to chew on his fingers (and ours)
• play with soft books (he can even turn the pages)
• fill his diapers to the brim
• to spit up his milk
  
• wear multiple outfits a day (see the 2 bullets above)
• to stare at lights and fans
• kick his legs
• bathtime
• to look at his reflection in the mirror

Sleep patterns are still somewhat an issue. While he used to sleep through the night, the last few weeks he has been waking more frequently. (I would love any mom advice on this. I have read so many books that everything now runs together and I don't really know which method to use.)

We are really enjoying watching him grow. His little personality is developing each day and we fall more in love even more. (Sorry there are no pictures..again we don't have our computer.)

Wow..

What a couple of weeks we've had! First our computer decided not to power up. The cord won't power it and the battery is dead. We sent it to the computer department at Jeremy's school and they didn't tell us anything we didn't know. We have now ordered a new power cord and are waiting on its arrival from Hong Kong. If it doesn't work, we may have to replace the motherboard! We have some sweet friends who are letting us borrow their old laptop in the meantime. (Thanks Langstons!)

Then last Thursday my old, bestest neighbor Alyson came to visit with her kids Gabriel and Phobe. It had been about 4 months since we had seen each other! After living next door to each other for 3 1/2 years it has been hard not seeing her. It was a really sweet time of fellowship and it also made me appreciate our friendship even more. I also realized I nor my house are not ready for a toddler. In preparation for lunch, I went to open my freezer to get out some chicken and was met with a gush of water. Evidentally my freezer wasn't working. What made me the saddest was that I lost 5 days worth of breastmilk that I had been stockpiling. While Alyson was here we realized that the fridge wasn't cooling anymore either. I called a repairman and he came over within the hour. His dignosis was that the evaporator and the defroster were shot. They recommended not repairing it due to the age of the fridge. At this point, I ran all of my food over to my parents' house to save it. Friday night Jeremy and I went out shopping for a new fridge. We ended up buying one that was a little more expensive because it was in stock while the others would take over a week to get there. We just couldn't wait a week!

Jeremy has also been working on our taxes. It looks like we are going to get back a really BIG return due to being first time homebuyers and new parents. We plan to pay off the car and possible buy a new vaccumm cleaner. This will now put us debt free (ex. the mortage!) and it feels so good! We feel very blessed!

Other than that, I also had some flu bug yesterday but feel better today. Here's hoping we're only looking up from here. :)
