Owen turned 4 months on the 28th. We went to the doctor this Tuesday for his 4 month checkup and shots. He was a whopping 16 lbs. and 1 oz. (75th %) and 28 in (off the chart!). Evidently we have a very tall boy! Where does that come from? They also increased his reflux medicine and gave him some cream for his eczema. The doctor also gave him the go ahead to start cereal. We have since tried it but you'll have to wait to see it until we get our computer back before I can download the video.
At 4 months, he can do the following:
- Make a variety of sounds
- Laugh out loud
- Smile in recognition of us
- Grab objects and study them
- Sit up in his Bumbo
- Roll from his front to back (he did it 3x in one day but as yet to do it again)
- Bear weight on his legs (he loves to stand)
He likes:
- to chew on his fingers (and ours)
- play with soft books (he can even turn the pages)
- fill his diapers to the brim
- to spit up his milk
- wear multiple outfits a day (see the 2 bullets above)
- to stare at lights and fans
- kick his legs
- bathtime
- to look at his reflection in the mirror
Sleep patterns are still somewhat an issue. While he used to sleep through the night, the last few weeks he has been waking more frequently. (I would love any mom advice on this. I have read so many books that everything now runs together and I don't really know which method to use.)
We are really enjoying watching him grow. His little personality is developing each day and we fall more in love even more. (Sorry there are no pictures..again we don't have our computer.)

hurry up and get that computer fixed. i need to see pictures!
Shannon, we hit major sleep issues with McKinley around 4 months and are still reaping what was sown. He's 6 and a half months now and still not sleeping well. The doctor's advice for us was to stop picking him up in the middle of the night when he gets fussy but to rather calm him with shushing noised and rubbing his head or stomach (still sleeping on his back). She also said that there is absolutely no need for him to eat during the night so to not feed him. I don't know if you guys set Owen down to go to bed while he's still awake, but that's the first step. For him to learn to go to sleep on his own that first time. McKinley does this, but still wakes 6-7 times during the night. So the past 2 nights have been a lot of shushing, but I think he's getting it. Just know that if you feed him or pick him up now in the middle of the night then you will have to break that habit later. Also, check with your doctor to see if he is physically at a point of not needing the middle of the night feeding. I know that's a lot of information, but I don't want you guys to fall in the same trouble we have with the lack of sleep.

Yea...Connor started not sleeping through the night at 4 months or so. A few nights ago we let him cry it out - 30 minutes of torture, but after a few days he cries for just a few minutes on and off and then falls asleep. Even in the middle of the night if he wakes up and cries we wait and he's usually asleep within a 2 or 3 minutes. It was TORTURE hearing him cry at first, but now we can watch him cry, stop, look around for us, play with his feet, cry again, look for us, etc. (We have a video monitor) So, it's obvious he isn't really upset, he just knows that if he cries we usually come in.
Now if we could get him to nap alone.......
