New Furniture

Our first Christmas present arrived yesterday! Around 9 am two men and a big truck showed up in our driveway to deliver our new bedroom furniture. They are a gift from my (Shannon's) parents and we could not be more excited about it.

This is our first official bedroom set where all the furniture matches! It looks so pretty in our room. These pictures don't do it justice!

Thanks Mom and Dad! We love it!

A Big Fat YUCK

Owen is sick yet again. We know that when he is up for 3 hours in the middle of the night something must be up. Yesterday he woke up with green gunk gluing his eyes shut. I thought pink eye but the eyes are clear and his nose is dripping too. He also developed a rash around his diaper line. Today the rash moved down his legs and to his hands so I knew it was time to call the doctor.

We went in this morning and boy is he sick. The doctor diagnosed him with hand, foot, and mouth, double ear infections, and a really bad cold. He is now on a decongestant, eye drops, and an antibiotic. He just looks pitful. The skin under his eyes are red from where we have wiped the goop up constantly. His rash is everywhere now but his arms. We are home for a couple of days it looks like. I hoping he can sleep and heal as we have many activities coming up late in the week and weekend. Hopefully I can get a nap in today too! :(

Christmas is about trees

Now that Owen is getting older Jeremy and I have been discussing what we want our Christmas traditions to be. Both of us want to emphasize the true meaning of Christmas with Owen (and Lord willing our future children). To start him young, we decided to purchase a nativity set he could play. Thanks to the help of his Grandma Cox, Owen is now the proud owner of the Little People Christmas Story. It arrived yesterday and I put it all out under the tree (minus the trees...you'll see why in a bit.)

Owen crawls over to inspect it. Here is looking at the camel.

Then he found the trees and rock walls that go beside the stable. That was all he was interested in playing with.
He though the roof needed some more foliage.
He is now very attached to the trees and has carried them around the living room. He even went into a crying fit when I made him put them down so we could lay down for nap time.
I think we have a ways to go..right now Christmas is all about the trees for Owen.

Birthday Weekend

Sadly I don't have any pictures of the weekend...I was too busy having fun. :)

Saturday marked 28 years in the life of me. I celebrated early by getting my hair cut on Friday morning. I love haircuts! It is much shorter but cute. I'll get Jeremy to take a picture of it. Friday night Mom and Dad picked us up and we traveled to Charlotte to spend the weekend with my little brother. We made a pit stop at Cracker Barrel. YUM!

Saturday we did some present opening, present buying, and lots of eating. I got some awesome sweaters, scarves, a necklace, earrings, and shagging lessons! Owen gave Jeremy and I shagging lessons, which start in Jan. I am super pumped!! This year Jeremy gave me the opportunity to accessorize the living room. So we have been buying vases, frames, flowers, etc. for the living room. It's going to be awesome! Also because it was my birthday I got to pick the restaurants for lunch and dinner...mexican for lunch and seafood for dinner.

Sunday we went to church with Brandon, lunch at Five Guys, then headed home. We made a pit stop in Raleigh to have dinner at my aunt and uncle's.

Overall awesome weekend and now I'm 28. Wow that's close to 30.

14 Months

Owen turned 14 months on the 28th. He isn't that different from what I wrote for his 13 month birthday. A couple of things worth mentioning:

  • He is weighing around 25 lbs. and is 31 inches tall (according to my calculations)
  • He is starting to outgrow his 12 month clothes esp. his overalls.
  • He is really into imitating you. He likes to try and repeat the sounds you make. His Papa has tried to get him to do the Rick Flair Wooooo as well as Ho Ho Ho. He can throw his head back the same way but only makes the sound half the time.
  • He loves to walk around the kitchen pushing his chair but is still not walking on his own. He doesn't like it when you try to stand him up and help him walk. He may crawl forever at this rate!
  • He has become super fond of his hippo walker though he doesn't always use it for its intended purpose. He likes to put stuff in it or sit in it. He will walk behind it but he seems to think it's a hassle.
  • He likes to drink out of cups, esp. his Papa's tea glass. He also like when you put water in your straw and give it to him.
  • He loves to watch the picture slideshow on our digital picture frame. It's so cute to see his face when he recognizes the person in the picture.
As always, it is so fun to watch him take in new experiences and learn. He is so fun to play and interact with on a daily basis. We love our little guy!
